Along
with coaching duties, our coaches act as a player development
staff. They spend countless hours counseling and advising players
and parents on what course of action is best for them to pursue.
The coaches regularly take time out of their busy schedules to contact
junior and prep school coaches on behalf of numerous Saints
players.
Director of Hockey Operations
for the San Diego Saints, Jason Galea is in constant contact with
scouts and coaches throughout North America and Canada. Through
his contacts Jason has been able to get a number of Saints players into
some of the most highly scouted exposure and junior camps in North
America.
Last season every
Saints travel team participated in the highest scouted tournaments in
Canada and North America. Our Midget u16AA team participated in the
Richmond International Tournament just outside of Vancouver. This
tournament is the highest scouted Midget Tournament on the west coast
bringing in over 100 scouts and coaches from various junior, prep, and
college teams. As a result of the Saints coaching staff actively
promoting their players five of the Saints Midget players were seen and
recruited to play at a higher level. Our Bantam u14A team
participated in a Bantam open Tournament outside of Vancouver in which
members of the NHL Central Scouting staff were in attendance. And our
Peewee u12A team participated in a tournament in Ottawa Ontario in
which teams from all over the world participated. In that tournament,
our Peewee team had the opportunity to play in the Scotia Bank Place
Arena where the Ottawa Senators Play.
Moving Forward
Our mission is to provide every Saints player with every available
opportunity to improve and showcase their talents in order to reach
their hockey and scholastic dreams. In our short existence our
program has managed to produce an impressive list of graduates that are
playing at a higher level.
